The Music of Burt Bacharach & Hal David performed by Julia Nixon with Dave Ylvisaker Dozen
The wondrous songs of Burt Bacharach and Hal David were first burned into our hearts during the sixties
when their music was everywhere; on the radio, in the movies and on television. Their popularity continue today as new generations of fans discover the timeless treasures found in their music.
Their utterly distinctive & riveting take on pop music earned them more than 20 top ten hits atop the charts, where they were perched for about 10 years.
The string of hits (I Say a Little Prayer, Walk On By, Do You Know The Way to San Jose, You’ll Never Get To Heaven If You Break My Heart, The Look of Love) kept coming and found some of the greatest singers of the day such as Dusty Springfield, Jerry Butler, Aretha Franklin, & most prominently,
Dionne Warwick, lining up to sing the next Bacharach-David smash.

“…a vibrant reminder of what Carroll does best, whether it's conjuring vintage R&B/soul sounds, or composing evocative ballad(s) which manage to bring to mind both novelist Annie Proulx and John Prine, or coming up with a country ditty as innocently engaging as On the Front Porch.”
“…he headlines this session with talent and charm to spare.”
