An Allen Toussaint Dance Party
Allen Toussaints place as one of the greats in American music history was cemented with a string of funky hits including "Holy Cow", "Ride Your Pony", "A Certain Girl" & Working in a Coal Mine" that he wrote and/or produced for New Orleans artists like Lee Dorsey and Ernie K-Doe in the early1960's. Toussaint then began singing, recording and performing his impeccably written songs himself even as major artists such as Little Feat, The Pointer Sisters, Bonnie Raitt & countless others were clamoring to cover his songs like "Yes We Can Can", "On Your Way Down"
"Night People" & "What Do You Want The Girl To Do"
Allen Toussaint held a special place in the hearts of all those at The Hamilton as he had performed there multiple times and was due to play again just before he passed away in 2015. His music lives on and will be the celebrated with ' An Allen Toussaint Dance Party' featuring a full night of the great New Orleans music and magic he created.
Twenty of the DC areas' finest musicians come together to play the best of Toussaints catalogue and The Hamiltons dance floor will be open and rocking!
