JAMES MCMURTRY ROCKS THE HAMILTON

Despite his often bleak topics, McMurtry – the son of Pulitzer prize-winning author Larry McMurtry – and his band delivered a blazing show at The Hamilton. The muscular tunes managed to transform the posh room into a roadhouse bar for a couple of hours and kept a standing-room only crowd rocking-and rolling late into a Monday night – no small feat in a buttoned-down, early-to-bed early-to-rise town.

The acoustics at The Hamilton – a comfortable, friendly venue – are consistently top-notch. And it’s super cool that at the start of each show, The Hamilton’s emcee reminds the chatty among us that a concert is not the place for braying conversations about your work day. The reminder seemed to work on McMurtry’s attentive crowd. God bless you, Hamilton emcee.
